Surfing Above The Clouds
Most airlines currently offer in-flight internet but many passengers do not use it. This is mostly because it’s ridiculously expensive and slow. As more and more people are using smart phones the ease of having internet where you are has become a necessity and will only get greater. So the demand for in-flight internet is ever increasing.
There has been a recent deal with the British satellite telecommunications company ‘Inmarsat’ and ‘Honeywell’ a US-based aviation supplier which may help to give in-flight internet a boost. They are planning to launch three satellites into orbit in a couple of years, the first planned for 2013. This essentially will provide global coverage and make it cheaper and reliable to use.
